Oftentimes it is our suffering, pain or simply uncomfortableness in life that will bring us to seeking some sort of relief, any relief. I found solace, albeit temporary, in hatha yoga practices, talk therapy, meditation and mindfulness practices. However, it was Repression Inquiry work that was a game-changer for me. The effects were more or less permanent. Below are some effects I had from doing Repression Inquiry:
- Loss of the need to be people-pleaser.
- Able to know what my boundaries are and express them more clearly.
- Loss of a fear of public speaking – which was debilitating for me prior to doing this work.
- Similarly, a loss of social anxiety.
- More comfortable expressing myself and being more vulnerable with others.
- Able to know what my needs and wants are and to express them more easily in a relationship.
- Improved communication in relationships.
- Rarely triggered in my day-to-day life.
- Able to find my fulfillment, love and joy within more easily rather than seeking it outside of myself.
- No physical pain, tension or contraction in my body on most days.
- Less prone to getting small colds and viruses which used to plague me incessantly.
- Finding more pleasure in the day-to-day of my life with less of a feeling of unease.
- Less of a feeling of shame, lack or deficiency in my life.
- Greater sense of self-acceptance and confidence.
- A decrease in negative self-talk.
- Increased energy and motivation to engage in activities in general.
- Easier to engage in self-care practices.
- Easier to engage in creative endeavors.
- Easier to seek support in my life .
- Less prone to the compulsive busyness
- Free from any addiction to caffeine, sugar and alcohol.
Depending on your repression and your history, your list will look a bit different. We discover in this work that by feeling into our body that our beliefs about ourselves are keeping us safe from our buried emotions. As we feel and process what wasn’t safe for us to feel and process as children and now as adults, these beliefs and behaviors that cause us pain in our life will fall away naturally.
