Learning to Trust the Body

I’ve always had a strong sense of intuition. Yet, growing up with complex trauma, I second-guessed many of my choices. And ultimately, I learned to ignore and not trust my body. My cognitive abilities became over-developed as I would think my way around my feelings and waver on many decisions. Those of us who grew up in dysfunctional families, which I believe is most of us, learn to gaslight ourselves and ultimately bypass the body. We may put too much stock in “revered teachers”, authorities, our partners or the latest and greatest zeitgeist trending on social media. We often learn to outsource our power and sense of authority at a very young age.

Giving our power away is actually a traumatic response and yet to the body-mind in repression, this feels safer than following our own inner guidance system which may go against the wishes of our family, friends or spouse. As you can imagine there is no freedom in that – in staying safe! We are essentially drinking the kool-aid of our conditioning without checking the body if our choices actually resonate with us.

We learn to bury our emotions in the body and hide our authentic feelings, desires and wishes from others. The result can be health issues such as disease, chronic pain or contraction, even unhealthy relationships. Most of us aren’t taught to process emotions or to let the other person know when we are sad or afraid or whatever it is. This in essence, creates the trauma suit that many of us walk around with our entire lives.

This trauma suit becomes our egos, our defenses, our identity. We become imprisoned by our trauma and repression responses until we feel the buried hurt or anger and process it. And this leads to freedom. In acknowledging the unconscious buried emotions that are running our life, our ego becomes dismantled and freedom, authenticity and flow can finally be ours! I believe that this is our birthright.

Using the Kiloby Inquiries tools, I have personally released a football field sized amount of trauma from the body. My guidance system is clearer than ever and I can trust my body with more spaciousness and flow than I ever have before!
